falling off the wagon
(still here, no baby yet)
Nearly fell off the stash diet wagon. But resisted. Just shopping out of boredom now. Cant even sit at my desk properly!

So, I'm latent labour ... basically this means a very boring sort of labour that takes days.
I want a little less contracting and a bit more action, baby.
Hang on. Wasn't that an Elvis song?
Dear baby,
Its very hot with you in. It might be even hotter to get you out.
Either way, I'm willing to try. Feel free to start anytime you like.
Your Mother (to be)
Went out last night for a couple of hours to a pub to celebrate our friend Jodie's birthday - it was good to see some people, and spend some time having adult conversation and catching up. Jodie and her friend Jo were really quite tipsy by chucking out and I was having fun watching Jo get really freaked by the movements of bump. Glenn was quite taken with it though and had made the firm prediction that I'll give birth this Monday at 8pm. Well, here's hoping!
Today we popped back to their place to drop off Jodie's present, a very pretty little silver necklace with pendants shaped like tropical flowers, and to borrow their Animal Dyson. Its Floof Season in the A-B household, so we are trying to save poor little one's nose by at least taking up the worst of it before we are back to our little Henry hoover. Its very good, if a little noisy, so hopefully we will have one ourselves soon enough. Our Henry is a great nippy little hoover but even he seems to struggle with the mighty Emily brand floof.
The cats are predictibly split over the new noisy addition - Fizz bolted upstairs to peer from a safe distance. Emily is unmoved by the trouble her malting is causing or the solution we have borrowed in.
Finally, my June edition of CK dropped through the post today (the new one is out in 3 days in the US!) but it's a really lovely one - especially like the 15 minute layouts, that pick and match products. Definitely will have a dig through the old stash to match up some papers and copy the ideas. I have a bit of a backlog of photos to get through (my fault for getting so excited and printing out a million different pics) so once I've worked my way through the majority of these I think I'll just print as and when I need some and I can always use my photo printer to print stuff ad-hoc too, which is nice.
Plus scrapping quietly and listening to radio 4, that must be good for the blood pressure right?
Went for my antenatal appointment yesterday evening - blood pressure was 139/99 (!!!)
so sent to big hospital for tests. They did my blood pressure twice,
around 10pm, and a 30 minute ECG thingummy. Then we began waiting. And
waiting. And waiting. At 2.45am they decided to admit me because of the
fluctuation (piffle, I reckon, it was because the doctor couldnt get
round to seeing me - I had one day of high blood pressure, no protein
in my urine, no massive swelling, no headaches, no disturbed vision) so
I was taken to the ward. Except they didnt have any spare beds, so they
made one up for me on the day ward. At 3.45am they took my blood for
tests and started me on a charming 24 urine collection, and hubby went
home to get some sleep (he was shattered, poor thing!).
At 5.45am, they admitted a girl to the day unit (which woke me) as
they didn't have any beds in delivery or antenatal free ... except
about 2 minutes after they examined her she said she wanted to push ... eek
... that was my cue to remove myself to the waiting room. i'm not quite
brave enough to be in the same room as someone delivering, right now!
lo and behold I heard baby crying a few minutes later but she seemed to
be having some problems with the placenta and bloodloss so I think she
was transferred out very soon after.
So, at 6.30am - having read about 7 back issues of heat magazine - I
decided to find some breakfast, and talked to a few other girls
admitted for stuff, some with babies and some without, and decided that
I really still wanted to give birth at my birthing centre after
listening to some of them recount their births. A big no thanks to any
suggestion of induction!
As it was, they retested my urine at 8am - nothing - my blood pressure
was now 144/79 and basically all i feel is worse for a night with just
2 hours sleep and some really crappy food. the doctor let me go, and i
can go back to my MW unit, providing my blood pressure remains under
90. I'll be checked twice a week at home from now on so fingers crossed because i could really live without giving birth in the big hospital.
Really wasnt convinced I was going to be let out without further
treatment, but i think stressing how much i wanted to give birth in the
MW unit helped. now, please, let my BP stay low!!!
I've been looking around me and I have an awful lot of pages currently unfinished, without homes. (Although that's because I'm desperate for some page protectors but I have other things I need to spend money on right now). I had a good go at bashing my way through a collection of unfinished items recently, but I think later on it might be time for another. Some need the right photo, if they were done in classes, and some need things adhering in a proper way. Most need some journalling added. All of them need finishing off.
For my scrap for cash challenge, I think I'll award myself £1 for each single LO I finish - although one class page I can think of needs some much work I'll just add it to my 'doing' total at £3 a page.
I've also got some inspiration buzzing round my head from a LO in Supply Savvy, all about Fizzy my cat.
I'm also debating the merits of making up album pages for Baby before he puts in an appearance. The trouble is, I find the photos often dictate the way the page goes. I just find really blank generic sketch pages a bit pointless ... on the other hand, how long will it be before I actually get to do any???
